A constant resource and lovely dream book.
I have used this book since it was published in the 1970's. It was my dream book, idea book and is still my tutor. I have at least 40 gardening books and I still return to the dogeared copy of this when I can't get an answer anywhere else!

Recommend to the person who likes pug.
We are Japanese journalists, and the owners of two pugs. This book made us very happy. It is because our favorite pugs is very much filled with the beautiful photograph. And,it is explained in detail, the history about pug as well is very helpful. A sentence is easy and polite, too. It is the book which recommends the thing of pug to the person who likes it in the same way as For The Love of Pugs.

The Complete Storykeepers Collection (Brown, Brian. Storykeepers.)
Published in Hardcover by Publishers' Group West (January, 2000)
Authors: Brian Brown and Andrew Melrose
Average review score:

Christianity and Fun!
I think a lot of children may think of being Christian as something imposed on them--having to go to church, having to follow rules. This book shows them that God can be a source of strength in bad times and that being a Christian can be a joyful, fun thing. Ben, Helena and the children live in a time when being a Christian was dangerous, but they bravely confront their oppressors and draw strength from the stories of Jesus. The adventure and humor in this book make it accessable even to children who are not Christian and to old fogies like me!

Comprehensive Postanesthesia Care
Published in Hardcover by Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins (15 January, 1997)
Authors: Morris Brown and Eli M. Brown
Average review score:

Excellent review,by system,of the postoperative patient
Multiauthored text with concise review, by organ system, of the pharmacolgy and physiology of the patient who has undergone anesthesia and surgery. It is a useful reference for physicians of a variety of specialties, nurses, medical students, and anesthetists. Because it is a multiauthored text, the chapters vary in quality, but overall it is an excellent addition to the library of anyone interested in the care of the postoperative patient.

Confessions: Books I-Xiii
Published in Paperback by Hackett Pub Co (October, 1993)
Authors: Augustine, F.J. Sheed, and Peter Robert Lamont Brown
Average review score:

The best translation of St. Augustine's Confessions
Let me put it this way, and I quote another translator of this book, "You have not read 'Confessions' until you have read the Sheed translation."

Congress from the Inside: Observations from the Majority and the Minority
Published in Paperback by Kent State Univ Pr (December, 2000)
Author: Sherrod Brown
Average review score:

great story of how Congress works
This is a great book that takes us from Representative Brown's first election victory in 1992 that also gave us the first Dem. Prez in 12 years. After the Republicans Contract with America takeover of Congress, Brown gives a detailed account of Speaker Newt's agenda and the many mistakes he made. Brown does all of this in a very short 300 or so pages and I couldn't put the book down. I read the whole thing in just a few nights of before bed reading.

The Conquest : The Story of a Negro Pioneer: The Givens Collection
Published in Paperback by Washington Square (27 May, 2003)
Authors: Jayna Brown and Oscar Micheaux
Average review score:

oscar micheaux's finest book
Oscar Micheaux wrote seven novels. "The Conquest" was his first novel, and his best. If you can only purchase one book BY Oscar Micheaux, this is the best.
Prof. Jayna Brown's introduction is outstanding. Her introduction is tough but fair. The introduction places Oscar Micheaux in his historical context, as a conservative Booker T. Washington follower.
This is the first reprint of "The Conquest" that is not a facsimile copy of the original typeset edition from 1913. As a result, the lettering, font and artwork in the book are modern and elegant.
The book itself is autobiographical. But the book is about more than the struggle of one African-American. The book is also about a whole variety of topics: homesteading, railroading, rural America, and the urban vs. rural divide.
I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in homesteading, railroading, farming,or American history. Micheaux was one of a kind. The same thing that was said about writer George Schuyler could also be said about Oscar Micheaux:
"He woke up every morning to see which way the world was turning, and he took off in the opposite direction. He loved playing the role of the maverick."

Consuming Passions: Feminist Approaches to Weight Preoccupation and Eating Disorders
Published in Paperback by Second Story Press (August, 1993)
Authors: Catrina Brown and Karin Jasper
Average review score:

The BEST book I've read on eating disorders!
After years of looking for feminist perspectives on eating disorders I came across this amazing book. What makes this book particularly unique is that it is edited, and contains the views of many different feminists and feminist therapists. Not only was the theory the most useful I have read, but this book also contains many helpful ideas for how feminists (and feminists working in the mental health field in particular) can best help their clients who are struggling with eating disorder and body image issues. Anyone who works with eating disordered clients cannot pass this book up--it is WELL woth the money!
